Anthony DeMers performing classical guitar in his Pacific Grove studio

About DeMers Guitar

Anthony DeMers has spent more than twenty years teaching classical guitar on California's Central Coast. He works with students at every level, from those just starting out to seasoned performers, and his lessons keep returning to the same fundamentals: solid technique, a beautiful tone, and a genuine feel for the music. He treats playing as a lifelong craft and teaches it patiently, with real attention to each student.

He is also a luthier. In his workshop at the Pacific Grove Art Center, he designs and builds classical guitars that draw on traditional Spanish methods while following his own ear. Each instrument is made by hand and reflects years spent studying, performing, and listening closely to what the guitar can do.

Anthony is President of the Carmel Guitar Society, where he helps bring world-class concerts, masterclasses, and internationally recognized artists to the Monterey Bay. He encourages his own students to play in ensembles and recitals as well, because he believes music is meant to be shared. Teaching, building, and performing are all part of the same work: helping people come to love the classical guitar and stay with it.

  • PACIFIC GROVE ART CENTER

Professional Home Base | Every business needs an office. As passions and demands have grown, so did the need for a larger space with room to grow. It wasn't until moving to the third room at Pacific Grove Art Center to fulfill the needs of building guitars, teaching students, and meeting with community members, that Anthony realized he was not just an instructor but an artist as well. The vibrance of this space and immersion amongst other inspired artists in the community have driven creativity and productivity like never before. Welcome to Pacific Grove Art Center.
